Structural issues can include snoring, sleep apnea, tongue-tie, nasal obstruction, and more. Orofacial Myologists are able to identify the underlying cause and provide treatment.
The way we use our facial and oral muscles creates a daily pattern that impacts development and function. Myofunctional therapy exercises and techniques can help provide lasting improvements in a patient's breathing, tongue placement, chewing, swallowing, and speech.
Sleep is essential to your overall health. Myofunctional therapy can provide improvements on tongue placement that can promote healthy sleep patterns and increase overall health quality.
Myofunctional therapy is a great start to a lifetime of good oral development and optimizing form and function.
The process typically begins with a comprehensive assessment. The assessment ensures that the therapist knows where to begin and how far they need to go.
Myofunctional Therapy is a very “active” treatment and the patient will be expected to commit to the exercises daily for a minimum of 8-12 weeks. Each week there is an appointment to check on the progress and assign new exercises.
After the program there will be a complete re-assessment before they… GRADUATE and complete the Myo Program! Sometimes patients need further work, depending on the severity of the case AND on
compliance!
